March 11th, 2012My name is Jeffrey Lehart and I am running for State Representative for District 87 that includes Wyandot, Crawford, Seneca, Marion, and Morrow County. I am running because the current state of our district is in disrepair. Our job loss in District 87 is nearly 3 times the Ohio average at nearly 30% since 2000. Our unemployment rates are averaging nearly 10% that is nearly 2% over the nation’s unemployment rate and well over Ohio’s current unemployment rate of 7.6%. District 87 ranks among the highest in unemployment rates in Ohio’s 88 Counties (See attachment ).ColorRateMapunemployment . In order to reverse this trend I plan to work with local leaders to find what incentives can be offered to get companies to relocate here. I also feel we need to give tax breaks to companies who are looking to relocate here and our geographic location is perfect for distribution to many parts of the country. I also plan to promote education, workplace safety, and protecting our middle class workers. I plan to meet with local leaders monthly to work on a plan to promote our area to companies across the country and abroad working on incentives to bring them here. Ohio is currently ranked in the top 5 of most unfriendly business tax states. I plan to introduce legislation to reverse this trend. I am also for preserving our right to bear arms, fighting the war on drugs, the elderly, and our military. Jeffrey Lehart Putting the “Public” back in public service
